Mythic
32xDark fantasy medieval textures with worn edges and gritty details. Designed for dungeon crawlers, dark castles, and grimdark adventure maps.

What Mythic looks like on blocks

Those nine blocks are drawn straight from the texture files inside Mythic itself, at 32x. Every pack on this site is rendered in the same nine positions, so lining Mythic up against another render shows nothing but Mythic's own art.

About Mythic
FishyMint builds Mythic as a medieval pack, drawn at 32x. Mythic redraws every default texture as rugged, hand-worn stone and timber suited to castles, keeps, and old-world towns. The result is a rustic, lived-in fantasy atmosphere. Mythic sits in the comfortable middle: clearly sharper than vanilla, still light enough for ordinary hardware.
Its own signature comes through in how it commits to a dark-fantasy, grimdark mood, keeps surfaces gritty and worn, is well suited to dungeons and dark builds, and sets a heavy, grimdark tone. Across terrain and buildings alike, Mythic cobblestone, bricks, wood, and thatch are reworked into weathered, kingdom-ready building materials, which is why Mythic reads as a whole rather than a patch.
Mythic needs Java Edition. FishyMint's Mythic covers the 1.20 to 1.21 range. With a low-impact footprint and a 20 MB download, Mythic is a strong fit for builders who want the world to match their work.
In numbers: 32 by 32 per face works out at 1024 pixels, near enough 4 times the vanilla count. We have 3 versions of Mythic on file, last refreshed 2025-01-05.
What Mythic changes
Mythic redraws the game with a sharper 32x sheet. What that means once you are in a world:
- Every block, item, and mob is redrawn at 32x instead of the stock 16x.
- Dark fantasy: reinforces the pack's rustic, old-world character.
- Worn textures: reinforces the pack's rustic, old-world character.
- Gritty detail: raises the level of fine detail you see up close on every surface.
- Custom mobs: gives creatures restyled textures in keeping with the pack.
- Overall direction: cobblestone, bricks, wood, and thatch are reworked into weathered, kingdom-ready building materials.
How to install Mythic (Java Edition)
- 1Keep the Mythic .zip (20 MB) zipped, place it in the folder behind Options, Resource Packs, Open Pack Folder, then select it from the list.

Performance & requirements
As an HD pack, Mythic asks for a little more video memory than vanilla but remains light. Most mid-range GPUs run it at full frame rate; very old or integrated graphics may see a small dip in busy scenes.
The supported range runs 1.20 to 1.21. Stick to the newest of those on Java, though older saves rarely have trouble with it.
At 20 MB, the pack fits easily in memory on a modern machine, and giving Minecraft 4 GB of RAM or more keeps chunk loading smooth.
What is inside Mythic
Counted in the pack itself, Mythic holds 2,843 texture files, 77 of them animated. On top of that it defines 1,237 of its own models, which means part of what you see is a different shape rather than a repainted one.
1,073 of those files are blocks, 648 are items and 511 are mobs and entities. We checked that against the files rather than taking it on trust: of 1,721 block and item textures read straight from the pack, 1,709 are 32 pixels wide, so the resolution on the box is the resolution you get.
No part of it depends on OptiFine, so vanilla Minecraft shows you the whole pack. Nothing about the audio changes in Mythic, which matters if you have grown used to the vanilla sounds.

Mythic redraws 979 blocks and skips the signs
The count is 979 replaced and 290 untouched. Mythic skips signs and hanging signs across the wood types, shelves, and the pieces a bed is assembled from, which means a bedroom built with it still shows some original artwork while the walls around it do not.
What makes it unusual is that its average brightness is identical to the game's, down to the tenth of a point, while its colours sit 10.2 points closer together. A pack that neither lightens nor darkens but pulls the saturation down is rare here; most of them move both at once. 977 files measure 32 pixels, two are 64, and 94 are additions of its own.
Does Mythic work with Minecraft 26.2?
Behind by 12 releases
The newest Minecraft version Mythic covers is 1.21.3, which puts it 12 releases behind the current 26.2. Its coverage runs across 10 Minecraft versions in total, back as far as 1.18.
You can still install it on a newer game, but any block added after 1.21.3 keeps its vanilla texture, so the look ends up mixed.

Mythic FAQ

Is Mythic free to download?
Yes, Mythic is free: 20 MB is the whole Mythic download. 32x textures are what Mythic delivers, plus 2,843 texture files sit inside Mythic. 11 separate Mythic releases exist so far.

Which Minecraft versions does Mythic support?
FishyMint names 3 for Mythic: 1.20, 1.20.4, 1.21. 1.20 is the oldest Mythic names. 12 game releases arrived after Mythic stopped at 1.21.3. January 2025 is when FishyMint last stamped the Mythic list.

How much detail does Mythic add?
1024 pixels fill one Mythic face, against 256 in vanilla. 1,709 of 1,721 Mythic textures measure 32 pixels wide. 2,843 texture files sit in Mythic altogether, and 20 MB is what Mythic weighs on disk.

What hardware does Mythic want?
Mythic wants mid-range hardware. FishyMint puts Mythic at low impact. 20 MB of Mythic fits inside most cards, plus integrated chips dip once Mythic fills the screen.

What does Mythic actually include?
FishyMint lists 5 things for Mythic: dark fantasy, worn textures, gritty detail, custom mobs and dungeon-ready, and 1,237 custom models give Mythic new shapes, not only surfaces. 77 textures in Mythic move rather than stand still. FishyMint calls Mythic medieval, tagged dark-fantasy, gritty, dungeon.

How do I install Mythic?
Drop the Mythic zip into resourcepacks, unchanged. 32x art from Mythic wins the moment Mythic sits above Default, and 20 MB loads exactly as FishyMint packed it, plus 1.21 is the newest Mythic build FishyMint names.

How big is the Mythic download?
20 MB, the way FishyMint packages Mythic: 77 animated textures sit in Mythic, and 1024 pixels per Mythic face explain the rest. January 2025 is when Mythic last grew larger.

Who makes Mythic?
FishyMint does: January 2025 is FishyMint's latest pass over Mythic. 1.20 through 1.21, 3 Mythic versions in all. 11 separate Mythic releases are on record.

What is Mythic best at?
Mythic is medieval, tagged dark-fantasy, gritty, dungeon by FishyMint. 5 Mythic features are named, dark fantasy first. FishyMint holds Mythic from 1.20 to 1.21, and 2,843 Mythic files back that up.

Is OptiFine required for Mythic?
Not for Mythic. Across 2,843 files there is no connected set, which means vanilla Minecraft already shows you Mythic in full, 77 animations and everything else. Add OptiFine for your own reasons, framerate or zoom, and Mythic looks the same either way. Drop Mythic in resourcepacks and that is the whole setup. No connected set in Mythic means 2,843 files that never wait on a late mod, so Mythic keeps working the day a Minecraft version lands, 77 animations included, exactly as Mythic shipped Mythic.

Does Mythic work with Minecraft 26.2?
Not fully. Mythic stops at 1.21.3, so Mythic sits 12 releases behind 26.2. Install Mythic anyway: Mythic leaves blocks added after 1.21.3 vanilla, and covers 10 versions down to 1.18.

Is Mythic still maintained today?
Not lately. Mythic last shipped 9 November 2024, 22 months back, where Mythic usually took 54 days between its 11 rounds, the first of them 2 May 2023. Mythic keeps working where Mythic already reached; anything Mojang added since 9 November 2024 stays vanilla, and no round has landed to change that. For scale: Mythic once paused 127 days, ended 9 November 2024, against 6 rounds in 2024, out of 11 for Mythic overall.

What am I allowed to do with Mythic?
No, not without asking. Mythic lists no license, so FishyMint keeps every right that copyright hands an author by default. Re-hosting Mythic, bundling Mythic into a modpack, selling Mythic, or publishing a changed Mythic all need FishyMint to agree first, in writing. Playing Mythic needs nobody's permission: download Mythic, drop in resourcepacks, play, record video, stream. That default is also why our button sends you to FishyMint instead of a copy of Mythic hosted here. FishyMint publishes no terms we could find, so any wider plan starts with asking FishyMint directly.

John Smith Legacy redraws Minecraft as worn stone and timber, with random mob textures so no two zombies match and CTM support throughout.
Dokucraft actually ships as three separate looks in one download, from bright to the dark variant this listing covers, each with its own animated textures.
Conquest leans on connected textures so heavily that walls and floors read as continuous stonework, not tiled blocks, with 3D models and custom sounds added on.
Chroma Hills pushes color saturation up rather than down, aiming at an RPG look rather than realism, with custom paintings tuned to match.
