Luna HD
64xRealistic textures with a warm, inviting tone. Excellent for survival worlds that need a photorealistic look without being too dark or gritty.

What Luna HD looks like on blocks

Those nine blocks are drawn straight from the texture files inside Luna HD itself, at 64x. Every pack on this site is rendered in the same nine positions, so lining Luna HD up against another render shows nothing but Luna HD's own art.

About Luna HD
Luna HD is a 64x realistic texture pack for Minecraft, created by Luna Pixels. Where vanilla draws plain surfaces, Luna HD puts photo-referenced surfaces with believable grain, depth, and material wear, for a grounded, true-to-life atmosphere. HD territory means Luna HD shows visibly more grain per surface without the memory appetite of the very large packs.
Pick it up and you get a pack that favours a warm, golden-hour colour grade, leans hard into photorealism, is tuned to feel great in long-term survival worlds, and ships PBR material maps for use with compatible shaders. Through Luna HD's whole world stone, ores, planks, foliage, and metal each get hand-detailed grime, scratches, and surface variation, which keeps Luna HD's look consistent wherever you build.
Luna HD's listed support runs to Minecraft releases between 1.20 and 1.21 on Java Edition. Budget 195 MB of disk and high impact in play. It is aimed at cinematic shots on a machine that can carry them.
Each block face carries 4096 pixels against vanilla's 256, roughly 16 times the detail to work with. Our listing records 3 supported versions for Luna HD and a last update of 2025-01-22.
What Luna HD changes
Turn Luna HD on and the game runs on 64x artwork. Point by point:
- The grid moves up to 64x, giving each surface far more room for detail than vanilla allows.
- Warm color palette: shifts the colour palette to set the pack's signature tone.
- PBR materials: adds material maps that only render with a compatible shader pack, driving realistic reflections and depth.
- Connected textures: joins neighbouring blocks into seamless surfaces instead of repeating a tile.
- Custom paintings: redraws the paintings to fit the realistic theme.
- Taken together: stone, ores, planks, foliage, and metal each get hand-detailed grime, scratches, and surface variation.
How to install Luna HD (Java Edition)
- 1Add Luna HD, a 195 MB download, the standard way: Options, Resource Packs, Open Pack Folder, drop the .zip in, select it on the right.
- 2Luna HD ships PBR material maps, so pair it with a shader pack through Iris or OptiFine to see its reflections and depth.

Performance & requirements
Luna HD's resolution asks a little more of your GPU than default Minecraft, which mid-range machines shrug off without a frame rate hit.
The supported range runs 1.20 to 1.21. Stick to the newest of those on Java, though older saves rarely have trouble with it.
Luna HD is built to be seen through shaders, and running both together roughly doubles the GPU load, so plan on 4 GB of VRAM or more.
What is inside Luna HD
Counted in the pack itself, Luna HD holds 1,594 texture files, 1 of them animated. It also ships 172 custom models, so some blocks and items change shape and not only their surface.
1,212 of those files are blocks, 140 are items and 43 are mobs and entities. Reading the width out of the files themselves, 1,040 of 1,352 block and item textures come in at 64 pixels, which is what the pack claims to be.
156 of those sit in a connected textures set. That part needs OptiFine or a mod that reads the same format, and without one the pack still loads, those blocks simply do not join up. Sound is untouched in Luna HD, so the game still sounds exactly like vanilla.

Luna HD is a darker pack, and a smaller one
447 blocks are Luna HD's and 822 are the game's, so a little over a third of what you see is actually the pack. The untouched set is broad: saplings, shelves, signs, trapdoors, rails and amethyst all keep their original artwork.
It is one of only four packs measured here that come out darker than the art they replace, and the darkest of the four at 14.3 points below, with colours spread 4.8 points further apart. Its sizes wander more than most: 403 files at the advertised 64 pixels, 40 at 32, three at 128 and one at 512. Another 705 textures are its own.
